Ever since meeting Alex last year I’ve been looking forward his and Sarah’s wedding in Liverpool Catholic Cathedral Crypt. And, after meeting Sarah a bit later I knew this would be a great day to photograph.
I started the day at the Liverpool Radisson Blu hotel with Sarah and the girls for her bridal preperations. The atmosphere was total excitement at the Radisson with Sarah’s awesome Ian Start Brides dress taking up a whole room!
Once Sarah was in her dress I had time for a few bridal portraits before heading off to the Cathedral to catch up with Alex.
Liverpool Catholic Cathedral Crypt it’s a stunning feat of architecture and a real piece of Liverpool history. The light is unexpectedly sublime, not at all what one would expect in somewhere called ‘the Crypt’. The Cathedral has a very friendly and helpful atmosphere and wedding photography is embraced. The Crypt comes with a big thumbs up from this Liverpool wedding photographer.
Alex looked his usual chilled self whilst chatting to guests at the Cathedral. However its a pretty intense experience stood on your own at the altar in such an imposing building. His wait was soon over and Sarah made her grand entrance.
Alex is from Norway and brought a slice of Norwegian culture to the ceremony. A stunning operatic performance by one of their friends. It was very emotionally charged and took full advantage of the great acoustics in the Crypt.
After their service we all made our way back to the Liverpool Radisson Blu for Alex and Sarah’s wedding reception.
The Radisson is very well run venue so the day continued to run effortlessly, another thumbs up from me. The Radisson Blu is a modern and striking building, there is nothing quite like it. It’s unique clean style is a total contrast to the arches of the Crypt and I had real fun taking their portraits amongst its sweeping contemporary lines.
Disaster struck when Alex’s original best man had been refused his flight because he had chicken pox, but Andreas stepped up to the mark, his speech was hilarious!
The day seemed to fly and it was soon time for their first dance and then for me to leave them to party on.
I hope you have enjoyed looking through a few of my favorite wedding pictures from the day…
