Annie and Joe’s gloriously sunny Wrexham wedding photography at St. Giles Parish Church and Lion Quays resort was on one of the nicest days of the year so far.

I love taking engagement photos, its a great way to get to know my couples better whilst spending an hour or two photographing them. Engagement shoots are very different to wedding shoots where most of the day is covered journalistically. Unlike a wedding day there is no time constraints, no guests to chat to and they can easily be re arranged if the weather decides to be hostile. All in all a relaxed atmosphere and a great opportunity for couples to have a practice in front of the camera before the big day!

Middleton Lodge was the setting for Madeline and Jarlath’s wedding in the Richmond, North Yorkshire.

I met Madeline and Jarlath in winter 2009 when I photographed Jarlath’s brother and sister in law’s winter wedding in 2009. It was great to meet James and Elizabeth again and meet the latest member of their family.

The unexpected snow last weekend threatened to cause havoc on the roads so along with my camera’s I also packed walking boots, a shovel and bag of rock salt and was pleased not to need them. I arrived at Middleton Lodge to meet up with Madeline and the girls for her bridal preparations, to find an extremely excited bride. Smiles all round and thumbs up were the order of the day. Once Madeline was in here gorgeous Jenny Packham wedding gown I had time to take a few bridal portraits before heading off to meet Jarlath and their guests at St Joseph of St Francis Xavier Roman Catholic church in Richmond.

Jarlath was with his two best men. I took this opportunity to meet with Father Dan O’Neill. Father Dan’s poicy on photography was “do what you want, where you want, how you want… photographers are all invisible anyways” what a friendly and helpful attitude – Thank you! I was able to capture Madeline and Jarlath’s wedding completely unhindered.

After their wedding service and mass we headed back to Middleton Lodge for the wedding party. Although the weather didn’t cause us any problems on the roads it was still bitter cold so most of my shooting was indoors where it was nice and warm. I did manage to tempt Madz and Jarlath out into the snow for a QUICK session just before their wedding breakfast, it would have been a shame not to get a few snowy shots.

And onto the speeches! Followed by cutting of the cake and first dance. This was a great day spent with lovely people and a real pleasure to photograph.

As promised, her is part two of Stella and Williams Sefton Palm House wedding photos. Due to their late ceremony and lack of any daylight Stella and William decided they wanted a post wedding shoot at their wedding venue and the surrounding park.

This is a great thing to do! Its great fun to get back into your wedding dress/suit and spending a couple of hours getting great images. Well away from time constraints and other pressures of the wedding day makes these extra fun for the couple and me as a photographer alike.

It doesn’t matter how long ago your wedding was, a post wedding shoot is always an option.

Here are a few from the day…

I caught up with Stella and the girls in her room at the Hilton in Liverpool centre and captured her bridal preparations in my usual un-intrusive style. The early afternoon preps were very relaxed and chilled. Once Stella was in her beautiful dress I took a few bride portraits around the Hiltons spectacular interior.

And then it was time for me to meet up with William at the Palm House. As I arrived at the Palm house Liverpool it was already dusk, by the time Stella arrived the light was gorgeous.

As always I want to praise the Liverpool registrars for their helpful, friendly and professional attitude. Its always a pleasure to work with them, the freedom they grant makes Brides and Grooms the real winners with stunning unhindered ceremony shots. Their wedding services are always lovely and relaxed.

After the service Stella and William mingled with their guests in the Palm house. They also had a few cool shots outside in the dark, some confetti and family pics. There was even time for an outfit change for Stella before their wedding breakfast and speeches.

Stella and William had gone to a lot of effort with their first dance. It came after Stellas 3rd outfit change and was a scene from Dirty Dancing - most impressed!

After their first dance I left the to enjoy the  rest of their wedding day celebrations.

Fellow wedding photographers Sarah and Ben chose the stunning Leverhulme Hotel in Port Sunlight for their wedding celebrations.

Since booking their wedding photography I’ve got to know Sarah and Ben so their wedding was like photographing a friends.

I started my day with Sarah at her parents house. Sarah was very relaxed so photographing her bridal preparations was a breeze and led to some beautiful images.

Sarah looked stunning in her wedding dress. I took a couple of quick bridal portraits before heading off to meet up with Ben at St Mary’s Parish Church in Port Sunlight.

It was soon time for Sarah’s to wow everyone with her grand entrance down the aisle with her dad at St Mary’s.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank St Mary’s for being so helpful on the day and allowing me to capture their lovely wedding service. Sadly some churches don’t allow photography or banish wedding photographers to the back. I had a fantastic viewpoint and was able to capture the whole service.

We had glorious weather on the day and Sarah and Ben were able to enjoy the sunshine after the service.

After the service we headed off to the Leverhulme Hotel for their wedding reception party. I really enjoyed shooting at the Leverhulme, it has the kind of architecture that really excites me as a photographer. The staff run the venue very smoothly and it was great to work there.

Ben and Sarah had opted to have their wedding speeches before the wedding breakfast so everyone could enjoy a nerve free meal.

This was a lovely day, spent with lovely people at a lovely venue. Here are a few of my favourites from their wedding day…

Rebecca and Hywel’s wedding photography saw me back at the magnificent Tatton Park and its beautiful gardens in Knutsford. Tatton is a venue I’ve shot at many times and one thats always a pleasure to visit.

I started their wedding photography at Rebecca’s parents house in Knutsford, cheshire. Rebecca’s spent her wedding morning with friends and family whilst getting ready for the days events. Once Rebecca was in her lovely wedding dress I took a couple of quick bridal portraits before I hedded off to catch up with Hywel at Tatton Park.

I arrived to find Hywel with his two best men and ushers welcoming their wedding guests. It was soon time for the arrival of out bride so I popped outside to capture Rebecca arriving in the wedding car.

Once again I want to praise the Cheshire registrars for being so fabulous to work along side. Rebecca and Hywel had a lovely wedding service with two readings before signing the marriage register and being given their marriage certificate.

After the wedding service, Rebecca and Hywel had a Champaign reception in the grounds of Tatton Park. I took the opportunity to take a few family shots and a few fashion portraits before resuming my usual low key reportage wedding photography.

We then made our way across town for the the wedding breakfast at the fabulous Michelin stared Belle Epoque in Knutsford Centre. Belle Epoque is another venue I know well, its a unique venue and one I love to work at. After the speechs and first dance I left them to party into the night.

The Athenaeum Liverpool is a real gem of a wedding venue in the heart of Liverpool and backs onto another great Liverpool venue, the Bluecoat. Frith and Ryan decided to use them both for their lovely wedding.

Not being content with the Athenaeum and the Bluecoat Frith and Ryan included another of my favourite Liverpool venues, the Hope Street hotel for Frith’s bridal preparations. Mumford and Sons provided the soundtrack to Frith’s morning at Hope Street hotel, a very chilled out morning indeed!
The girls practiced their routine for their performance in the evening while gran looked on.

It was soon time for me to head over to Athenaeum to catch up with Ryan and their congregating guests before they headed up that famous staircase to the library where the ceremonies take place.

I have said this many times before but I will continue to praise Liverpool registrars for being amazing to work with. Their services are relaxed and the know the importance couples place on their photography.
After a few drinks it was time to head over to the Bluecoat for Frith and Ryan’s wedding breakfast. Although the rain had arrived we still made time for a spot of confetti throwing before making a dash across to the bluecoat.

Lucinda and Richards wedding saw me heading once again to Alnwick, Northumbria for their wedding at Alnwick castle.

I started the day with Lucinda and the girls for her bridal preparations at the lovely Greycroft guest house in Alnwick.  It was a pretty chilled morning and filled with laughter. Once Lucinda was ready ir was time to head off to Alnwick castle for their wedding ceremony.

I arrived at the castle to meet up with Richard and his best men chatting to the wedding guests and waiting for Lucindas arrival.

I’ve always found the Alnwick registrars really helpful and this occasion was no acception, I was able to capture their ceremony unhindered.

After the ceremony and signing of the register the wedding party moved out into the Castle courtyard and into the glorious weather we had that day. We spent much of the afternoon outside in Alnwick Castle grounds before heading off to the treehouse in Alnwick gardens led by bagpipes and fiddler for their wedding breakfast.

The treehouse is a unique venue for a wedding reception and the staff there run things beautifully. After some heartfelt and emotional speeches it was time for me to leave Lucinda and Richard with their friends and family to enjoy the rest of their wedding celebrations.
